Vermont born musician Matt Lorenz aka The Suitcase Junket says, “I aim to write good songs and sing them honestly.” He self-taught himself to throat-sing which adds an interesting edge to his sound.
“I’m interested in the hidden voices that reside within things: the songs stuck inside instruments, the story behind the object, the mysterious weight of a word, the harmonic sequence that’s in every note waiting to be broken as light through a prism,” he says.
The Suitcase Junket doesn’t specifically have one genre of music, but compares to the likes of Tom Waits and The Black Keys. His high craft songwriting creates a unique and engaging crowd pleaser with a force and style all its own filling the silence with the first few notes of a song.
The Suitcase Junket plays at Monroe’s Side Bar on November 22nd. Doors open at 8pm with free admission.
